Untitled (Map for dérive, Los Angeles #1), 2008
decals on paper
8 x 10 in.
I put together this map with the intentions of using it to navigate a dérive through Los Angeles with it. Even though the map was designed with L.A. in mind, a British psychogeographer once recommended a dérive of Paris with a map of London. In that spirit, this fictional cartography should have the capacity to produce a number of different paths for one to follow on their drifts through the city. I have yet to undergo my own dérive, I'm still waiting to wake up early enough on a nice and sunny Sunday.
If you are so inclined, please use this map for a dérive of your own undertaking. I have included a link to download a tabloid sized PDF for anyone to print out.
